  • Building in the Centre of Evora very well designed and with an architecture very well adapted to the intended use. What, at least the day 2 not convinced was the stuff exposed uninteresting and the cleaning of the bathrooms

  • Eugénio de Almeida Foundation walked in just to see the Painted Houses, which are a little garden at the rear of the building. A marvel! Fresh from the 19th century. Type in your unique 16TH-Portugal. Unfortunately they're not advertised. Many people pass in front of the building of the Foundation (which is just a stone's throw from the Temple of Diana) and doesn't even know what's in there. It is also interesting to visit the building of the Foundation, which was once the Palace of the Inquisition.

  • Wonderful restoration of the building and an exhibition of contemporary art with very bright parts, and other less. A fantastic bet for me. Congratulations to the Eugenio de Almeida Foundation. Great project!

Where to stay in Evora

Take advantage of Evora's array of ancient and historical sites by staying in one of the many mid-range hotels located within its medieval core. Thanks to a mix of Roman, Moorish, and later European buildings, the entire center is listed as a World Heritage Site, so this area provides a great base for sightseeing by foot. To save a little on accommodations, you can also check into one of the hostels in town, most of which are located in the city center or on its winding residential streets that branch off from the main squares. These usually have shared, dorm-style rooms, but can get you right in the midst of the action at a very low cost.
