With 96 stones, this archeological complex is one of the largest groups of its kind in Europe. View the recently discovered formation, which wasn't known until Henrique Leonor Pina happened upon it while doing fieldwork in 1966. These stones were erected between the sixth and fourth millennium BCE, from the Neolithic to Chalcolithic periods, and were most likely used for religious and ceremonial purposes. These stones are so worth seeing, I can't begin to tell you how amazing they are. There's a small shop/information centre on the way, which is also worth a stop. Plenty of facts, notice boards... more »

Okay. Some stones. Quite a lot of kids running about (including ours!) so maybe not the vibe of quiet contemplation etc the stone circles might have!

O pessoal que aqui "trabalha" são verdadeiros apaixonados. Paragem obrigatória antes de visitar o monumento em si. Além de réplicas muito engraçadas de peças megalíticas, lembranças, etc... tb se pode beber uma mini fresquinha. Os painéis explicativos são excelentes.

The people who work here are real lovers. Mandatory stop before visiting the monument itself. In addition to very funny replicas of megíthic pieces, souvenirs, etc... TB If you can drink a mini-fresh one. The explanatory panels are excellent.
