This is a pretty cool site. It's a bit of a walk from the parking, and it's kind of hard to find since the signage isn't great, but it's a cool site. When we went, we were the only people there. It's ...  more »

Very difficult to access and more with the rains that he had had a few days before he had to go through very large water puddles a 4 x 4 would have been welcome. Site not set in value

The signage to reach this spot is not very good. You almost wonder if you have missed it. it is down a very bad road, but worth the trip. It could also use more interpretive signage, but it is still i...  more »

  • One of the biggest and oldest stones in the peninsula, saddly its been boarded up for health and safety reasons, don't want megatonne stones falling on people.
  • Cool.
  • It's interesting to see this building and understand how it can hold. But it is not of very great interest, in the middle of the Portuguese countryside, it takes a somewhat bumpy for access road

  • More than the archaeological area, (interesting but not enough to warrant the distance from town), is the real beauty.

  • Largest Dolmen in the region. Worth a visit for those who have interest in the subject.

Where to stay in Evora

Take advantage of Evora's array of ancient and historical sites by staying in one of the many mid-range hotels located within its medieval core. Thanks to a mix of Roman, Moorish, and later European buildings, the entire center is listed as a World Heritage Site, so this area provides a great base for sightseeing by foot. To save a little on accommodations, you can also check into one of the hostels in town, most of which are located in the city center or on its winding residential streets that branch off from the main squares. These usually have shared, dorm-style rooms, but can get you right in the midst of the action at a very low cost.
