  • Despite being a five star (very ceremonious welcoming reception, sitting kind jewellery) and is located within a park with golf course ... I wasn't satisfied in full. The rooms are a bit dated. The spa with indoor swimming pool is not bad. The outside pool anyway. It is located at the foot of the city of Coimbra and to walk it takes 15/20 minutes. Breakfast good.

  • Fantastic Palace, very well preserved, with a beautiful love story. The building itself is a marvel; but without a doubt what is striking is its swimming pool and its fabulous gardens. It is not near the city, peto cab is very cheap, for less than € 10 take you to the University. The breakfast is very varied, very attentive staff. The only peguita that would put him breakfast coffee, it is not at the height of that wonderful palatial

  • In a park of 18 hectares, in the shade of the trees, we discover a loaded history sites, there are bridges or you stick padlocks, here we hang a white or Red Ribbon to the trees to seal our sense to the loved one who accompanies us.  In the reddish stones the fountain there are coins symbolizing eternal vows. Romeo and Juliet in Italy, Pedro and Ines to Portugal for the two "couple", a strong but impossible love with transit a tragic end.

  • Fantastic hotel with beautiful gardens and a great pool outdoors and spa. The rooms are very nice. We had a lunch outside for a bargain of 14.50 including drinks, excellent quality especially the seafood rice. Dinner was not cheap but of great quality and fantastic service. Decoration all over this place was very tasteful. We will come back and stay a few more days!
  • A wonderful relaxing stay. Superb service from the moment we walked in. There is an exceptional restaurant on site (the Arcadas) which offers 5-star service, food & wine. If you want to pamper yourself then you suggest you stay here. Breakfast, outside on the patio, is a must.
  • Lovely 5 star hotel. ONLY issue is the location isn't right in the mix, not a big deal but if walking Camino it's nice to not have to walk at night. A truly great hotel and unique historical building.
  • I booked a standard room, but was given a ' suite' in the attic. Windows were all at floor level.so there was absolutely no view. I expected a room overlooking the courtyard or gardens. Overall a disappointing experience.
  • The hotel is a former palace surrounded by gardens. The gardens and hotel are beautiful. It is a fun place to explore the legend of Ines and Pedro. The pool and sauna are nice. Don't skip the included breakfast- it's very nice.

Where to stay in Coimbra

Indulge in the medieval splendor of Coimbra by booking a hotel in the city's historical hilltop and hillside central area, which is home to the majority of its hotels and guesthouses. By staying right in the middle of the Old Town, you'll have medieval monasteries, Renaissance homes, and Baroque halls right at your doorstep. You'll also be within walking distance of the city's famed university complex. Alternatively, try staying in one of the center's youth hostels, which offer shared rooms, lockers, breakfast, and a comfortable bed at a fraction of the cost of an upscale hotel. These accommodations also give you a good base from which you can experience the city's student-fueled nightlife. To get away from the mainstream tourist center a bit, opt for a hotel or bed and breakfast in the quieter residential neighborhoods east of the university.
