  • We visited this boutique family-run winery, high up overlooking the Douro valley, as part of a tour organised by Jorge Barefoot of Pinhao. He certainly chose this place well. After a look at the wines...  more »
  • Stumbled upon this little paradise overlooking the Valley and the River Douro. Six km from Pinhao in Hill lies this charming but impeccable family winery mold. A fantastic terrace guests can enjoy the breathtaking views where guests can relax enjoying the wines made from them ... perhaps accompanied by local meats and cheeses. Unparalleled prices compared to Italian canons (from 80 cents a crisp white wine to a very full-bodied port 4). We had the good fortune to meet the owner, Faustino, who immediately very helpful showed us the back where it had recently bottled of rosé wine and obviously could not miss a taste. Faustino passionately told us the history of the area and sent us the enthusiasm that takes when he talks about his company's wines and so much so that the next day we arranged with him to visit his fifth (absolutely is different wines than the other major wineries now automated in the area, where the tour accompanied with its very interesting you suggest at least tasting though lost some traditions of This area only in small producers appear still rooted). We visited the cellars where Faustino and his feet Stomp the grapes in September, where they keep old port casks for decades and where between screws and his three dogs we definitely a little more understood what it means to love the countryside and the products of the Earth. An impromptu walk but just one hour at sunset between olive trees, vines and silence worth absolutely worth it.

  • Quinta recommended by the owner of a restaurant where we ate, remote, but easy to find, we went to the meanders of a hike, just follow the signs (signs in the village overlooking Pinhão). The view is really beautiful, hospitality, English first, then in a perfect french, is especially nice. We tasted two white wines. OK, without being exceptional, but the place alone is worth a visit.
