Explore a piece of geological history at Algar Seco, a sizeable rock formation with tunnels, arches, and rugged cliffs carved out by millennia of wind and waves. You'll find that the formation lies just a short jaunt from the main square in Carvoeiro. Wander among the winding paths and stairways cut directly into the rock, passing across rugged sections right along the water's edge. You'll be treated to views of the ocean from many areas of the formation, as well as the other parts of the cliffs curling out into the sea. Take a break if you want on one of the benches at viewing platforms along the way. By using our Carvoeiro trip builder, you can arrange your visit to Algar Seco and other attractions in Carvoeiro.

  • I thoroughly recommend this place.! My son and I had a great meal here and the staff were fantastic and friendly. Defo 5 stars.
  • It is not a beach, it is a natural pond that has been created in the middle of the cliffs. Very easy to access and you can bathe safely. Mind-blowing. There is a restaurant on the side with incredible views
