It is worth visiting this museum because it contains some pieces of our history in the region. be small, because from what we're told there are still more things stored for lack of space in the Museum

Interesting Museum but too small. Beja is a very small town and it is possible to meet everything in just one day, I made all the sights of Beja walking.

Reminded the museums of Portugal the years 80. The collection deserves a visit, but the exposure, the supporting materials, the logic need to be rethought. Need urgent review!

Então têm quadros do Ribera todos rotos?
  • This museum center piece is the famous story about the nun that wrote love letters to an officer.
  • Excellent exposition regarding the "Letters from a Portuguese", and the rest is also very nice
  • Worth the visit, the Entrance is free on Sundays.
  • The site is today the Beja Regional Museum, also known as Museum Queen Dona Leonor, was once "the convent of the conception", founded in 1459 by infants d. Fernando and d. Brites, parents of the King d. Manuel I was from that convent famous Portuguese nun, Mariana Alcoforado, have written the 5 love letters to Noel Bouton de Chamilly Marquis , French officer In 1927, was created the Museum in the former convent, receiving several collections of other convents and palaces of the city, such as frames, walking frames, pictures, jewelry and various objects of worship. Over time your booty was enriched, provided a rich heritage of Gothic art, manueline and Baroque, revealed in the architecture, jewellery, tiling, painting, statuary and talha. As soon as you enter the Museum, you can see the Church of the former convent. By walking, you can see the beautiful paintings by Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch masters, including a beautiful Ecce Homo. XV, and objects of religious worship, as well as the Chapter Room, the room of the Coats and the beautiful cloister. Among the collection of the Museum, is to highlight the archaeology section, centered primarily in the Roman period, very Rico in the region in the Alentejo.
