  • Village guard in its narrow streets and houses the history of life in the village. There are bars to sit down and talk with the locals and know a little of the life of this place. Rocks piled up the slope, mandatory track to look at the beautiful landscape of the high and see ruins of a castle. The souvenirs made by creative hands of artisans, Marafonas of Santa Cruz-rag dolls which symbolize fertility, are sold on the stairs, in the ways or in a small shop. There are beautiful chapels and old! Stop, sit on the rocks in the center of the village and its residents. You will fall in love!

  • Visit required! Medieval Citadel with residents. After steep hike, we reached the Castle. Worth every shortness of breath to get there. Vista and monument. Next to the Castle, the silence is the environment in account for himself the experiences there. The stones and their formats highlight the stories told by the wind.

  • What is Portugal that away from hiking trails can be found in the way of committed pearls. Monsanto is one of them. This village near the border with Spain-ready scenery for fairy tales. All these houses and sheds in the rock. Winding streets under overhanging boulders. In one such boulders came upon someone's shed, where pohrapyvaja, slept peacefully a huge pig. Be sure to climb to the top of the fortress. There will see the old church and cemetery, and stunning views of the surrounding valleys around. In Monsanto want to stroll slowly, enjoying the uniqueness of this place, its unhurried ambience and lovely friendly locals.

  • Not much to do but amazing views and great to walk around. Might be difficult to find parking. Best to spend the night and wake up early to take it all in.
  • A must visit...
  • Beautiful and picturesque place of medieval with several restaurants and bars as well as shops to buy gifts. In spring is a medieval feast in which the village is decorated to the effect and simulates life as before. It has a castle that is highly recommended to visit, although access is somewhat steep. Admission is free and the spectacular views from the top of its battlements and walls, which you can pass freely. By its steep streets it goes looking at buildings and admiring landscapes contemplated from almost any corner. There are several available viewpoints and many corners to photograph. highly recommended visit.
