We tested a homemade pizza of cod and a salad of tomatoes that were delicious. In Rome I had tried a pizza so exquisite and at the same time. With less heat we would have enjoyed more, but without a doubt, Monsanto is one of the essential places of Portugal!

Located on the slopes quite steep of a large hill, the village of Monsanto is a fascinating site, with a quiet and authentic environment where we feel transported back in time. Monsanto is one of the historical villages of Portugal and that which is distinguished as being the "most Portuguese of Portugal". With traces of human presence from the Paleolithic era, Monsanto was donated by d. Afonso Henriques to the Knights Templar after your conquest to the Moors in 1165. The village of Monsanto is a beautiful place. Don't miss the Church Cannons Square Belvedere Castle Cave on the way to the Castle, hidden in one of the streets of the village, lies a cave excavated on a large rock. In your interior is still possible to see some traces of human occupation. It's a very small space but which have interest from the historical point of view.
Adelino MarquesFor those who like history, visit Monsanto with time, this village in which the stones are part of the houses, streets and alleys, the corners of the facades of the houses, the conservation of the entire village, magnificent, situated on the slope of a hill composed largely of granite rock, is a place with a panorama around magnificent, from the top of the castle the view is superb but who is there to prepare the legs because it's not easy to get up there, but it's worth all the effort! Visit!!!!
Antonio Marcos MadeiraAll who visit Portugal must spend at least a day. Not to be missed.
Elisabete LopesMonsanto is in the news almost daily, for good reasons. The village is beautiful and most of the people are good people. A place that revisits pleased, for this reason I decided to build a small house, not only by the place itself, but also to give Monsanto a few more inhabitants during the holidays and in the future. Looking more closely, and having some petty people as neighbors faced with situations that we feel no longer exist in our times. That's what happens in the neighborhood of the Proenças, street of the paragraph 2, Catarrhs where my house, surrounded by 1 hectares of land, has as input of pigs and piggeries wagons of donkeys, just watching. I wish you in the near future, this situation is resolved, not only because aesthetically it's not the best scenario, but also because it removes the Monsanto a innate beauty, little seen in Portugal.
