  • The Capela dos Ossos de Alcantarilha lies attached on the South side of the Church from the 16th century, in the historic centre of the beautiful village of Alcantarilha, Algarve region, is property of municipal value. The chapel of bones dating back to the 16th century, too, in the same stylistic line of other chapels of the genus in the country, as in Évora, Faro and Lagos. The interior is practically all your coated and ornamented for more than 1500 human bones (probably from an old cemetery) with the exception of the figure of the crucified Christ sculpture dating from the 16TH century (probably from an old altar of the Church). There are also those who say, although without any reliable evidence, that these bones are Jesuit friars who perished by the region.
