Praia Sao Rafael, Albufeira
(4.6/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Set along the coast of Portugal's famous Algarve region, Praia Sao Rafael showcases golden sands, restaurants, and imposing limestone cliffs. Visit what is perhaps the country's most popular beach and wander along the secluded waterfront, wading through the shallow water. The gently sloping sand shelf keeps the sea relatively warm. You may want to rent an umbrella and relax for a while, enjoying the view of eroded rock formations and dry bluffs. The beach features restrooms, showers, coffee shops, bars, and a sizeable parking lot for visitors, all easily accessible via boardwalks and stairs. • The scenery deserves, the beach is impressive. To see a beautiful sea we must hope that there is no wind so that the sea is calm.

  • This beach has waves average, at times the sea gets more chopped, so be careful when you enter. The views from the top of the beach are very nice. They must take their umbrellas and chairs, because I didn't see that they rented. There is a beach front restaurant very good, highly recommended

  • We visited on a wild and windy day ,with the waves crashing ,stunning. No one else there can imagine that it gets busy in summer. Worth a visit whatever the weather.

  • Great beach, nice and secluded. We went there in mid September and it was still fairly busy it plenty of sun beds and parasols to choose from. These cost €15 for 2 beds for the day. The restaurant on the beach is lovely too, set back and slightly higher than the beach so the views are great. There's also a water sports place that does canoeing and paddle boards among other things.
  • Beautiful beach. The day we were there there were big waves which were great fun but it was definitely not suitable for non swimmers as within 2 meters the water went from knee deep to out of your depth. The beach itself is beautiful, with sea stacks stumps and a sea arch all to be seen. Beautiful beach.
  • Beautiful beach! Great cliffs on both sides and good rock formations on the beach too. Great for providing shade too. The place is lovely. The beach bar is something else. The food is fantastic! Not too expensive but certainly worth the extra money. You will love it! Highly recommended
  • THE RIP YOU OFF If you buy wine they give wine from € 27 per bottle They give way too much food, you get it almost does not. If you buy fish you get fish but this is therefore far too big and the price is 2x. They indicate that a fish for example € 60, - but tell not mention that this is a kilo. If you want to buy something cheap like salad as a meal, then they suddenly no more. They waiter that help you in the beginning was nowhere to be seen at the end. Appointments ????? their know nothing .....
  • It is a lovely but small beach. Really crowded in the summertime, good for walking in winter, lovely coves in the surrounding rocks and a few swimming holes for the daring swimmer.
