Gubalowka, Zakopane

(3.9/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
You can spot Gubalowka from a distance because of the Zakopane-Gubałówka transmitter on top, but what the mountain is really known for is the views of Zakopane and the Tatras mountain range. The valley beneath the mountain teems with restaurants and shops, and it serves as the starting point of many hiking trails that lead up to the summit and through the valley. Ride the funicular that takes you from the valley to a viewpoint on the mountain. Use our Zakopane family vacation planner to visit Gubalowka on your trip to Zakopane, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

  • We were mid-February holiday in Zakopane. Actually we wanted to just go up to the mountain. But the fantastic views captivated us but much longer than intended. Also, we've tried still the one or another local speciality. Of course, much is going on, and there are also many souvenir stalls. But you must of course expect that in a tourist center. If you think that would be different is probably wrong in Zakopane. The Outlook is it worth it anyway and also the price of the modern funicular is very moderate.

  • No pity. Breathtaking breasts. But turn around and you'll see: kebab, chips, food stands with everything. Not my fairy tale.

  • A nice train ride up to Gubalowkaan, but the spring marks could be seen already in the well and the snow was hardly worthy of the name. Stalls was nicely, as well as horse rides, as well as leading horse-riding smaller. With great views of the Tatra mountains, but I was looking at the site a little more and diverse tourist offer as quite many of the booth, however, had already closed their doors. Worth a visit, however, and the train ride was already an experience in itself.

  • It's a beautiful place! You can take a nice walk, buy souvenirs and engage in many outdoor activities. There is also a beach where you can relax and see surrounding mountains. Also don't miss out on local food!
  • Take the cable car from Zakopane to the top of Gubalowka, when you get there a beautiful panoramic view of the Polish part of the Tatra mountains is waiting for you :) you can buy beer, coffee aso. at the restaurant on the top, and enjoy it sitting outside if weather is good. If the weather is good, and you are wearing proper footwear (boots with good traction), you can take the Blue walking route down back to Zakopane. Or simply take the cable car back down...
  • Beautiful views of zakopane. Great to take a walk around and explore.
  • Not my cup of tea. Too many people, too many souvenier shops. The best spot is definitely Gusto Restaurant.
  • Amazing views across the town, lots of nice cafes and restaurants and plenty of places to hire skis/snowboards if you're after that kind of thing. A must visit. The ride up in the train was fun too...
