Trip Planner: Europe / Poland / Southern Poland / Lower Silesia Province / Wroclaw / St. Mary Magdalene Church
St. Mary Magdalene Church in Wrocław, Poland, is a gothic church located between Szewska and Laciarska street close to the central market square, established in the 13th century. Currently it is a cathedral of the Polish Catholic Church led by Piotr Mikolajczak. On the 21.10.1523, the first Lutheran services in Breslau were held here.DescriptionDuring the Second World War the church was seriously damaged. In 1945 the legendary Sinner's Bell, which was the biggest Silesian bell, was also damaged. St Mary Magdalene was rebuilt during the period 1947-1953.The most precious relic of the church is a Romanesque portal dating from the 12th century, coming from a Benedictine monastery on the river Elbing. The bridge connecting the two towers is called the "Mostek Czarownic" (Witches’ Bridge). A legend says that the shadows visible on the bridge are the souls of the girls who used to seduce men without wanting to be married, being scared of housekeeping. Indeed shadows represent women with brooms in their hands.BibliographyMalgorzata Urlich-Kornacka A guide to WrocławBeata Maciejewska Spacerownik WrocławskiUse our Wroclaw route planner to arrange your visit to St. Mary Magdalene Church and other attractions in Wroclaw.

One of the best view points in Wroclaw for me. Entry's not expensive, there's not much space for lots of visitor, so sometimes u need to wait to see everything (unfortunately u won't see full view of the city - 2 towers in the way ☹️). Definitely worth trying on your walk through Wroclaw.
Scared of heights? Not for you then. Great view of the Old Town from its heart. Less busy than the one in Rynek. I still prefer the University observatory roof deck by far and away. So if you want the view you must try that one.
Amazing catherdal, really worth visiting.
Went here 2022-March. Mission was to see dwarves atop the bridge. Beautiful view. Bridge was very solid so my fear of heights was no problem there. The way up, though, I very nearly stopped and turned back because the cemented stairs stopped about 1/3 of the way and the see-through metal stairs. I was with others so talking while going up helped me calm down.
This is a must visit tourist attraction in center square. Things to keep in mind: Ticket price : 10 PLN Stairs: 243 Lift: No Temp: 3-4° less than outside and once you reach up it will drop 3-4° more. But you will get amazing views of city from top. Specially the two drawfs statue that is amazing.
