Market Square (Rynek), Wroclaw

(2,800+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
As you admire the elegant townhouses lining Market Square (Rynek), bear in mind that at the end of World War II, this area was little more than a pile of bricks. A symbol of Poland's ability to rise from the ashes, this square underwent careful restoration after the war. See a replica of a medieval pillory used to flog people for over three centuries. Take in the variety of architectural styles, ranging from Baroque to Art Nouvea. At the center of the area, visit the Gothic town hall, considered a masterpiece of medieval architecture. The historic building houses a museum and a basement restaurant. To visit Market Square (Rynek) and other attractions in Wroclaw, use our Wroclaw vacation route planner.

  • Nice city centre with nice houses all around. A lot of places where you can sit to eat or to drink a little something

  • Characteristic place in Wroclaw. Eventhough most of the original buildings were destroyed during World War II, the newly build facades look nice and colorfull. See the world pass by at this square.  more »
  • What draws the attention of this square is the variety of colors of the buildings and in the Centre, the town hall with the astronomical clock of Nicolas Copérnico. A place with a great atmosphere, artistic performances and musicals, restaurants. 10 minutes walk from the train station and well connected by tram.
