Warsaw Municipal Zoological Garden, Warsaw
(3.4/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
The beginnings of Warsaw Municipal Zoological Garden can be traced to 18th-century menageries. Although the original zoo was destroyed in a bombing in 1939, director Jan Żabiński and his wife Antonina survived and went on to save hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust. After sustaining an injury in the Warsaw Uprising and surviving the war, Żabiński returned to running the zoo. Today the attraction hosts over 600,000 visitors a year and houses over 4,000 animals. Don't miss the exhibits featuring the elephant, hippopotamus, shark, and ape house. • We had a flying visit to Warsaw Zoo in december, the kids loved it. It is easy to wander around, no steep hills to climb. Very reasonable entry costs, about £10 for a family of four. A must see if for...  more »
  • We were in the Zoo in April 2016 onwards. The Zoo is just huge! Animals very much. And elephants, and tigers, and giraffes, hippos. all very, very much. There are a few nuances that need to plan in advance. Parking-be prepared to spend time searching for free space. If you are going with young children, be sure to bring your buggies, even if you are on it already. As just a big territory, and even adults are tired of walking. Don't forget to bring water to drink, as the cafes at the entrance are very expensive. And cook in them. A pleasant pastime!

  • Even so, who exactly is breathing to zoos, and even winter-wonder!) A small but very beautiful Aquarium. Primates-gorgeous! Meerkats and other trifle-itself allure. Thoughtful and interesting enclosures. Be sure to head over and summer.
