  • In this King, who lived in the 17TH century, it got Calderón de la Barca to write your drama, "life is a dream". The statue is more than that, not a statue, but it is curious that, while Poland so far, got you the news to our playwright. Remember: "dreams of the rich in their wealth, that offers more care;" dreams of the poor who suffer their misery and poverty; dreams to prosper starts, dreams that busy and aims to, dream which does wrong and offend, and worldwide, in conclusion, everyone dream of what they are, but none understood it. I dream that I'm here, destas prisons charged; and I dreamed that I was in another State more flattering. What is life? A frenzy. What is life? An illusion, a shadow, a fiction, and the largest is small; "life is a dream, and dreams, dreams are."

  • Sigismund's column is another of the symbols of Warsaw. You can not imagine without the Castle Square. And it brings the visitors the history of the Polish.

  • This is a column you see the first time you reach the castle square. It is not something special but this column dominated the square.  more »

  • Cool historic location. Lots of tourists as this is the centre of the old town. Came here during the Christmas markets and enjoyed a delicious grilled cheese.
  • Nice statue which you pass during the walk into the old town. You'll get a nice view over the city to the PGE arena.
  • Very beautiful place in the heart of Warsaw. It was perfect chilling out there. There were horses and carriages! People were nice, the weather was perfect. It was a great historical place to dwell in
  • Wonderful place to visit. I recommend having a local guide tell you the story behind such construction.
  • Lovely eveningspent listening to a cellist as the sun went down over the square.

Where to stay in Warsaw

Many centrally located hotels in Warsaw cater mostly to business travelers, which makes them much too expensive for backpackers and other visitors on a limited budget. Although hostels may seem like the only affordable option at the height of the season, you can find less expensive lodgings in mid-range hotels on the outskirts of town. Alternatively, time your visit for the weekend, when many hotels near the city center slash their prices and offer special deals for early booking.
