See one of Poland's significant World War I monuments, Grob Nieznanego Zolnierza. The structure at the site features the remains of the old Saxon Palace, which has only been partially rebuilt and serves as a tomb. Soil from 24 battlefields has been added to urns inside the tomb. Although the majority of the memorial is dedicated to fallen soldiers from World War I, it hosts ceremonies commemorating unknown soldiers who have fallen in almost every war that Poland has fought over the years. An eternal flame burns at the tomb and a guard from the Polish army remains on watch to keep it ablaze. Many visitors leave flowers and tokens around the site as a tribute, and you can too, but be aware that these are removed regularly. The Virtuti Militari and Cross of Valor, two of Poland's highest military honors, are portrayed on steel gratings behind the memorial. • The polish people did a great job with this memorial place. You can come for just a 5 min to pay your respect (no money needed)  more »
  • Memorial Monument in honor of the soldiers who fell during the many wars. It is located in the center of the city. Near the memorial for many years the soldiers of Honor guard are serving. Beside them eternal flame. The whole composition seems impressive for those who have not seen a memorial to war. I wasn't pleased with her.

  • Emotional place. For all those fallen elsewhere, who fought for Poland and Her independence. Heart warming. Show your kids and teach them something
  • A moving memorial, watching the changing of the guard ceremony is very thoughtful and introspective. I love how Poland is so respectful and proud of it's heroes!
  • A solemn monument, placed in a vast, spacious square surrounded by elegant buildings; it's well worth a visit, especially considering it lies on the eastern edge of the beautiful Saxon Gardens. A thin line in the ground lights up at dusk, bisecting the square.
  • Pretty unique. Try to make those soliders smile, impossible 😂
  • very amazing and there is always 2 man there and wear military clothes
