Historic Walking Area Zoo / Aquarium
The beginnings of City Zoological Garden in Warsaw can be traced to 18th-century menageries. Although the original zoo was destroyed in a bombing in 1939, director Jan Żabiński and his wife Antonina survived and went on to save hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust. After sustaining an injury in the Warsaw Uprising and surviving the war, Żabiński returned to running the zoo. Today the attraction hosts over 600,000 visitors a year and houses over 4,000 animals. Don't miss the exhibits featuring the elephant, hippopotamus, shark, and ape house. • Nice zoo with several original animals. However, we missed a bit of magic while visiting the zoo. It is a bit too traditional.
  • This zoo is much better than in Wrocław. Not crowded, good place to visit with children. Big territory, a lot of different animals. One of "must have" to see in Warsaw.
  • I love this zoo, it's spacious, got plenty of different species, there's something for everyone and even if it rains it's still good fun with all the animals they have indoors.
  • A must-visit if you haven't been here. At least a 2-hour visit if you rush through it. One of the biggest zoos in Europe containing thousands of animals as well as many sweet, ice cream, etc. shops.
  • Some of the exhibits are inspired. Animals seem happy and there are some rarely seen ones. Lovely park, nice architecture, inexpensive - nobody is ripping you off.
