Książ Castle, Walbrzych
(4/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Get to know the history of "the pearl of Lower Silesia" and its residents at Książ Castle. The original castle was built on a rock cliff surrounded by the forest in the 13th century, and it was reconstructed in the 18th century. Follow the tracks of the Hochberg's through the Baroque salons, along the rock of fortune, onto the terraces, and into a tunnel. Nazi Germans built the tunnel 15 m (49 ft) under the castle during World War II. The castle also houses an art gallery, two restaurants, and three hotels. Additional attractions include the entrance to the castle tower, castle stables, coach house, tomb chapel, and indoor arena built entirely of larchwood without any nails. • a real colors Castle a very imposing from the outside, but you go in and the Interior looks at, it is rather disapointed!. you expected to at this swanky construction maybe too much. the near located end lookout point is for photo enthusiasts a must, here goes the whole castle on the photo on it. Daisy by Hochberg of Pless confronted time and again in the Castle... as shimmer and magnificently once she lived the shadow side, how lonely, isolating society and dirt-poor she died in walbryzch is, here is not informed. most of the information are also in Polish, a lot in addition to English and also german. with more information in English and german and more showrooms this would have even more potential Castle...

  • This is a great castle with a rich history, mix of architectural styles and beautiful grounds. There's a flower festival in spring and this is probably the best time to see it. However, we have been there in autumn, on a very misty day, and even so it was really crowded. You can shorten the wait in queue by taking a ticket for a guideless tour from the machine to the left of the entrance. That is a good options if you have impatient kids, don't like long tales yourself or are just in a hurry. But then you will miss a lot of the personal history of the castle owners, and they seemed to have a pretty interesting life.
  • A very large castle which has gone through so much change in its time. However, it seemed a massive hotchpotch of different rooms. All the lovely old antique furniture which would by far be best suited to decorate some of the very bland rooms is all downstairs and for sale! Seriously! You couldn't make this up. Bizarre in the extreme! Some of the rooms have really awful 2016 modern art (if you can even call paint splodges that)in them. It need someone who knows what they are doing to really get this place in order. Costly at 35 zloty. Bus number 8 (make sure you get the one that actually goes to the castle and don't end up at a cherry Tree in the middle of the country eating cherries with the bus driver as 4 of us did). Train station is the meistro one not the glowney one.
  • Beautiful castle. In my opinion the most beautiful I have seen up to now. I recommend you to go for Art & Flower Festival which takes place in the end of April/beginning of May. What is disappointing is the fact, that we have bought the ticket to the tunnel and we were not informed that this is just ~30 m to visit. This is equal to ~10 min tour. Right now I don't recommend it, maybe later it would be better (there is some undergoing work to make this trip longer).
  • Very impressive castle, both exterior and rich interior worth visiting. All services as parking, food and drinks, signposting are well provided. Surrounding forest is perfect for a nice walk.
  • Absolutely amazing, all the years and work that it took to build this castle! Great place with a cool history. Very beautiful!
