Malta Lake, Poznan

4.5
#1 of 11 in Nature in Central Poland
Surrounded by parks and woodland, Malta Lake is mostly known for major kayak and rowing events. It also features an ice rink, dry ski slope, zoological garden, water park, narrow-gauge railway, and several historical sites, including the mound of freedom. This artificial lake was formed in 1952 and covers an area of 64 hectares (158 acres). It was named after a crusading order, Knights of Malta, on whose land it was built. Walk around the lake and watch ducks and swans splashing, or take the mini-train to the zoo. Try your hand at mini golf, or stop for a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants. A nearby mall offers great views of the lake from its top floors. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Malta Lake by using our Poznan travel itinerary maker.

If you like running or cycling you are going to love this place. The only negative is the narrow road shared by bikes and runners on one side of the lake. But really marvellous  more »

Recommend to visit this area of Poznan especially if you have kids, take the maltanka train which will take you to the zoo with a beautiful view of Lake included, after the zoo you will find lots of games for children and adults.

Where to stay in Poznan

Poznan draws huge business crowds during its international trade fairs, which cause a drastic increase in hotel prices. Business travelers cram the centrally located hotels during the week, so weekends remain the best time for sightseeing visits on a limited budget. Unless you have to stay in the city center, consider one of the outlying neighborhoods' hostels, which come in all shapes and sizes. Cozy guesthouses offer another affordable option, providing simply furnished rooms with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and private parking.
