Niedzica Castle also known as Dunajec Castle (Latin: Castrum de Dunajecz, Hungarian: Nedec Váralja / Nedec-Vár, German: Sub-Arx Unterschloss, Slovak: Nedecký hrad), is located in the southernmost part of Poland in Niedzica (Nowy Targ County in Lesser Poland). It was erected between the years 1320 and 1326 by Kokos of Brezovica on the site of an ancient stronghold surrounded by earthen walls in the Pieniny mountains. The Niedzica Castle stands at an altitude of 566 m, on a hill 300 metres (980 ft) upstream from the Dunajec River mouth, measured from the center of the dam on Lake Czorsztyn. The outline of Niedzica Castle can best be viewed from the ruins of Czorsztyn Castle on the other side of the lake. It is known as one of the most picturesque castles in the country and adorns the covers of many books.

Beutiful castle Niedzica and too Park Miniaturovy. You can pay PLN or Euro €. On place is too restaurant and shops with presents. more »

They limit number of visitors in the main castle so head to ticket box early to get tickets. We got tickets to old granary and old stable with carriages. We opted from boat tour across the lake to... more »

You have to walk a decent amount from parking to the castle, once you get to the castle they tell you to go around and grab a ticket. You grab a ticket and you wait 45 minutes. Once the 45 minutes is over you get a decent tour if the castle. The entire process takes about 2 hours. I recommend the castle across the lake more.

The tour guides know their trade, fun stories, some history. Quick tour, cheap, nice view of the lake. Steep steps - watch out for kids. It's all right to bring a 3 year old here but you'll have to leave the stroller in a designated area

Make sure you buy the ticket before hand. On holidays, there could be 4 hours of waiting. During the waiting time, you could take the ferry ride and visit another castle. The castle is good and very picturesque. Surrounded by dam and beautiful forest, it gives very scenic environement. Lot of options for cafe and restaurants. Just minus marks for the waiting time and full parking.
