Niedzica Castle (Zamek w Niedzicy), Niedzica

Nidzica castle is a 14th-century castle located in Nidzica, Poland.
The construction of the castle was begun around 1370. The Pfleger of the Teutonic Knights made it his residence in 1409. On 12t July 1410, the undefended castle was captured by the Polish forces on their way into the interior of the State of the Teutonic Order. At the time of the Hunger War of 1414 the castle was put under siege by the Polish knights and taken after eight days on the 6th of July. In 1454 the castle was occupied by the Prussian Union and in February 1455 was taken by the Czech army led by Jan Kolda ze Zampachu, who had repulsed an attack an by the forces of the Teutonic Knights on 28 April. In 1517 the inner ward was built up and reinforced. In 1784 a fire consumed the innter ward. In 1812 the castle was devastated by French forces. The castle was rebuilt from 1828-1830 into a court and a prison. The Soviet army bombarded the castle in 1945 and it remained in ruins until its rebuilding in 1961-1965.

  • Openly say-I only appreciate the approach to tourists: 1. Apparently it is possible to buy tickets online (I have not seen such a possibility before departure and after departure) 2. The castle opened ONLY to 16:00-of course all the places sold out, and even you can not enter the courtyard to take pictures, because the directorate can see that someone get chopped... Of course, after opening hours of the castle can be walked freely after this courtyard.. Where's the logic here? Where to open the visitors?

  • As a rule, a place beautiful, worth seeing, but... Well, there is quite a few but: 1. Tickets I think are a little expensive-Normalnty ticket 19 zł, and children 14 zł (especially for children I think it is definitely too much, because just for children there is really little to see). You need to add parking, which costs 12 zł. So the family 2 + 2 costs 78 PLN; For Granary Extra 5 zł per person, so together we have 98 zł for visiting this object, everything takes about 1.5 H. 2. Guided groups of 55 people, it is a coarse exaggeration (too many people): Almost no guide, man walks on man to see if it is a dungeon or, for example, trying to cram to guide, to hear anything. 3. The parking lot is not possible to enter-still no places, and other parking is quite far away, which in the rain (this was our case) means the need for total getting wet. 4. It turned out that you can buy tickets on-line (Glory to God!!!)-so we did not stand in line 200 meters to the tickets to the ticket office. Immediately I give a website, because the association of art historians did not have a page in Google and found it by search engines can not. WWW.ZAMEKNIEDZICA.PL. There you can buy a ticket online. It goes quite smoothly. (NOTE: Payments can be made only after clicking on the link from the email with proforma invoice.) Art histories advise you to set their page in Google (!!!) and a little more geared to children (more hostorii for children to tell the interest: it is already cool about Janosiku and the bald Bolesław (probably the name:))).

  • Great place. A nice Gothic style castle. One of many in this region. Really worth seeing.
  • View òf castel in Beautiful.Amazing place must be visited once again.
  • The view from the castle is really spectacular. This is one of the places you would like to return again and again. Regarding the castle itself - well, it looks quite good - not everything is yet renovated, work is still in progress. But the view from the castle - really worth it. If passing by, highly recommend to visit.
  • Swear to God this place is haunted. No joke. I stayed here for two nights on a surprise trip with my Polish wife and in-laws. The view was amazing and that whole region has a very "bond-esque" feeling, which was awesome in the winter.. On the first night my mother in law claimed she saw and felt a ghost presence... I thought she was trying to freak me out until on the second night I had an experience of my own.. I felt something in the room the whole night and was afraid to go to sleep. It smelled kind of musty and that triggered my knowledge of the supernatural even further along with the change in temperature in the room (frequently getting cold, then warm etc..). Went outside to catch a cigarette and had an eerie encounter with some old man walking up the stairs to a restricted area, way past bedtime.. read the same magazine for 5 hours until the sun came up. But over all it was a fantastic time! I'll be back but won't be staying the night!
  • The castle is relatively small, but it situated in the most amazing nature and surroundings, we loved it! The interior has bern burned by the Red Army, but it has been replaced with very nice pieces from different eras.
