Trip Planner: Europe / Poland / Northern Poland / Pomerania Province / Malbork / Muzeum Zamkowe w Malborku
One of the largest castles in the world by surface area, Muzeum Zamkowe w Malborku was once home to an order of Teutonic Knights and today ranks as a World Heritage Site and national historical monument. After being nearly demolished in a battle during World War II, the castle has been completely restored. Besides the large number of knights that used the castle as a home base, Prussian kings from the 15th century also resided here until the 18th century. Wear walking shoes to tour the grounds comfortably. Consider combining your visit with a tour of the town, which offers historical sites from the same period. Fascinating place both from the architecture and history stand point. The guided tours are fantastic, though long (3.5h) but that's expected once you see the magnificent buildings! And quite pricey but again it's a long tour full of stories and anecdotes.
It was the most beautiful castle I've ever visited. It's so huge!! The arms and armor selection is incredible. The audio guide was excellent. I loved it!
Well we enjoyed our stay there. However you pay quite high entrance fee and then they want extra fee for tower etc. That's classic money making trap for tourist. Also main gate and cashier(audio guide) is quite far away from each other. So better to buy tickets online and skip audio guide if you don't have whole day.
Beautiful castle and definitely worth the visit. The details of the interior are stunning. We used the English audio guide which was very well done.
A very interesting place. What was excellent was the audio guide which was enabled to come on as the user arrived at the specific points and there were additional points at which more details could be accessed as the need arise.
