Enjoy the idyllic scenery at Planty Park, famous for well-tended floral displays, small lakes, fountains, and statues. Following the line of the city walls, which protected this part of the city until the 19th century, the park is composed of thirty distinct gardens. Established in the 1820s and expanded over the years, the park now covers 21 hectares (52 acres) and stretches more than 4 km (2.5 mi). Stroll the scenic walkway for a shady retreat from the busy streets. Add Planty Park to your Krakow travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Krakow travel route builder app .

  • Pretty gardens surround the beautiful, old town with its historic university. There are many tree-lined avenues and seats where you can watch the world go by.  more »
  • Planty flanking each side of the old town. You can find rest in the shade during hot weather. The only pity is that so much to the homeless and dirty as possible.

  • On each side of the market is easy to get here and find a place where you can relax and release. There are places more frequented (around the main train station, the University) and are more quiet. There are two gardens for children to play, a lot of benches, a lot of greenery and trees. In the summer can be a sizable traffic on the main alley. Watch out also for cyclists, who do not always improve pedestrian space.

  • wonderful green space. Very pleasant to sit and relax after walking in the old city. Well maintained public toilets are a plus too
  • Good place to hide from sun on a hot day. However, there's still to much traffic noise to enjoy it fully.
  • A very cool place to hang out. Lot's of students. Lot's of locals stroll around
  • Beautiful walk around the park. Takes an hour or two but definitely worth it.
  • Beautiful park around Kraków Old Town, where it used to be the defensive double wall.

Where to stay in Krakow

Krakow ranks among one of Europe's increasingly popular tourist destinations, which is reflected in the rising costs of comfortable lodgings. The best hotels are concentrated in and around the historical old town, where five-star luxury comes at a very steep price. Old town hotels place you just steps from fine shops and restaurants, as well as the city's main museums and galleries. However, if your trip involves a tight budget, avoid the central district and check out mid-range hotels and economical hostels in one of the outlying neighborhoods.
