Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Krakow

(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Church of Saints Peter and Paul is best known for larger-than-life stone statues of 12 apostles perched on the front fence. The statues are contemporary replicas of the 18th-century Baroque originals, which can be seen in the side yard. King Sigismund III Vasa commissioned the church for the Jesuit order in the early 1600s. Notice the sculptures depicting Jesuit saints in the niches of its white, stone facade. The interior features the late Baroque high altar and the longest Foucault pendulum in Poland, hanging from the dome. The crypt shelters the remains of Father Skarga, a famous 17th-century Jesuit preacher. Try to catch a concert of classical music here.
