At the meeting point of the Odra and Warthe, this former fortress was destroyed during the fighting of World War II and never rebuilt. Some restored parts of the fort stand in contrast to the ruins of the old city, giving visitors a unique chance to glimpse history and experience authentic atmosphere. • My visit today June 13 2020, despite social distancing and mask was really great. The older gentleman of the staff whose name I have a hard time remember was so kind to explain all the exhibit to...  more »
  • To actually stand amongst the stones that are all that remain from this once busy fortress city is quite overwhelming. Overwhelming because this inhabited fortress was reduced to rubble only 73 yrs...  more »
  • This place is just like an abandoned city after WW2, all place is memorable, the stone, the small street, wall, and trottoir from the old city of Kostrzyn is still there in ruin. A church, Palace...  more »
  • We expected a little more based on the photos. But overal it was quite interesting and pretty. It was a bummer there wasn't any English explanation anywhere in the museum.
  • Overall, I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting something more. I gave four stars because there is a piece of history of the city. Very interesting is the film depicing yesterday and today's Kostrzyń.

  • There is nothing like a man's training as a contact with history. I recommend to all visitors, although once you visit this place.

  • A wonderful lesson in history. I recommend it to everyone. In particular, it is possible to see what war conflicts are about in our own.

  • Great surprise. Maybe a comparison to Pompeii is heavily exaggerated but however it does impress. I recommend to park at the museum office (the former border crossing) and to the exposition of Philip's Fort go by walking through the old town. Lots of greenery, little bricks, alleys, streets... And later in the museum we are realized that we went through the CITY center. Permanent houses, Tenement house, Castle, church, rode trams.... And returning to the parking lot else is looking at the surrounding area, otherwise sees these bricks, stones, paves, sidewalks, curbs. The exhibition itself is interesting and well organized. It is worth to book an hour to know the history of Kostrzynia. Attention, in the basement is chilly. On a hot day, it is worth the time to visit.
