  • Really good place if you want to get some historical view of what is remaining in the city after IIWW  more »
  • Due to the fact that I come from this city, I have to it a sentiment. But I must say that I was under no small impression when I visited the Museum that is located in the 'Starego of the city ', is a one fine-tuned and incredibly interesting. When it comes to the area of the fortress is saying right now that there's a reason these are Polish Pompeii ... The city itself was little gradually is rebuilt.

  • Best is not quite unprepared are added. It runs only through the fortress area, it takes pretty much nothing in the worst case. The or has some slow melancholic, which hardened from the impression of the defunct, once thriving town in Küstrin anyway on their shores. "Pompeii on the oder" could seem unspectacular at first glance. You deal first with history and can bring his imagination, the city is again with their middle-class homes, the tram, the Castle, the once most beautiful market square in Brandenburg, with vaulted cellars, that should still exist, to imagine. The only supports of the imagination are paving slabs made of granite, once created for eternity, remains of basement openings, doorways, angles of paving at intersections. What has remained only makes the matter more melancholic; the history of Katte does a rest. The fortress museum in the bastion of "Filip" is a mandatory program. You should take into account that it is down right cool and moist. Made up in State of the art museum education, it does not deny its EU funding. You should be prepared also, that the history of the total destruction of the locker is handled by clearing of 1967 but something. The changing views about the Germans manifested even on the ruins. Out and over. The area is visited by Germans and Poles like to and interested in. This is the present. The Museum shops provide a lot of deeper information.

  • Very interesting place. The museum itself is inside an old fortress and shows the amazing transformations of the Old Town, from its founding to destruction in 1945. Walking around the remaining ruins is a unique experience.
  • Kostrzyn fortress is located on the Oder, almost on the border of the Polish and German National Park the mouth Guard. The fortress was built in the years 1537-68, on the model of the fortresses. It was a masterpiece of the art of fortification. To this day the walls here have survived, the gate of Berlin, the gate of Chyżańska, two reweliny, three bastions, moat and inner forty. The fortress is located in the old town of Kostrzyn, completely destroyed during World War II. The war caused, that the city sank in 50 years. The ruins of the city. "Kostrzyńskie Pompeii" are one-of-a-kind tourist attraction. Well behaved here layout of streets, foundations and basements of buildings. Recently after the former old town because of the longing for that which has ceased to exist, but today the proposed reconstruction is taking real shape, from the heaps of Earth emerged the ruins of old buildings and streets, and some properties of the fortress has been restored.

  • An amazing place. I didn't realize that the old town was never rebuilt. It comes to the streets, but the lack of buildings. The Fort Museum well worth a visit, especially for lovers of World War II.
