  • Silesian insurgents ' monument is one of the icons. The monument is exposed place, right at the roundabout. Gen. George Ziętka, another symbol of the capital of the Upper Silesia-sports and events Hall. It is bordered by the Silesian insurgents ' Park. The monument was unveiled on September 1, 1967. The authors of the project were the outstanding sculptor Prof. Gustav Zemła and architect Wojciech Zabłocki. Steel construction has been cast in bronze in Gliwickich Plants of technical devices. It was built on the site of the cemetery of soldiers of the Red Army, which graves disinterred and moved to Tadeusz Kosciuszko Park. The monument takes the form of three of the Eagles ' wings symbolizing the three Silesian uprising in the years 1919-1920-1921. The monument is set on an artificial mound. Its vertical, stone-covered slopes, visible from the side of the Katowice ronda, appear the names of the towns-battlefields. Silesian insurgents ' monument donated was Warsaw for Upper Silesia society. Interesting is the history of the Park around the monument. The stand is a remnant of the garden, which was located at the castle of Thiele-Winckler, industrial family, the founding fathers of the city of Katowice. Today, the castle is Hotel Katowice. Although the Silesian insurgents ' monument is no longer the largest in Poland, outclassed it m.in. Statue of Jesus in świebodzin, it remains the largest true monument in Upper Silesia. And the class of its form, a poetic fusion theme shots – remains of the monumental municipal sculpture pattern area and one of the best monuments in Poland at all.
