  • A great place for a typical dinner of Silesia in the charming surroundings of the Park. I also recommend to walk through the neighborhood and become familiar with the history of this place.

  • Around the vibrant metropolitan area area. Next to busy roads and DK86. And between them a haven of peace and tranquility-old over centenarian Giszowiec, named after mining of Giesche family, which it has built for their workers. Former mining town-garden, today a district of Katowice. Thickly interlaced with trees and flowering gardens. The estate is designed perfectly. The core was 300, mostly family houses, houses, built by 40 projects. Along one road not built identical cottages, sought to change their size and shape and rhythms of Windows and doors. They differed in shape, dimensions, architectural details, and even location relative to the street. Each is surrounded by a garden, which was the response to the obligation under the lease. To avoid moisture, all the work related to the washing and drying to be performed in the Laundry building, Magla and bath, with 32 positions with electrically heated boilers electric, laundry, drying cabinets with hot-air circulation and electric magle. To protect residents, was built here Inn with a large hall and a stage, as a place of festivals and meetings rooms, garages and stables, three school buildings with flats for teachers. The op, or stores, and next to the bakery and the butcher's trade. There were also home to stay for unmarried miners and catering, in which the latter were issued. Of course, he was also the park, and even ... the ice factory. To mine and the nearby village of access provide a narrow gauge railway called "Balkanem". Just behind the current DK86 stands. Villa Brachta, which is interesting architecturally villa built in 1910 for the Director of the mine "Giesche". In the years of the German occupation has resided in the Fritz Bracht, gauleiter and nadprezydent the province of Upper Silesia. Apparently, in the event of a possible attack, the building went underground tunnels. One of the outputs to be connected with the airport on Muchowcu. on July 17, 1942 in a Villa stopped by Heinrich Himmler, supervising the extermination of the first transport of Dutch Jews to the extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. A little further towards Tychy is a kindergarten. This former hunting Pszczyna. Today many of these properties are worth a visit, although changed their destiny. The former pub, functions as an Inn and House of culture. Stables Museum presenting exhibits related to the culture and art of the Upper Silesia and images and memorabilia from painter Ewaldzie Gawliku. The school was occupied by offices. Villa Brachta-Getting Bank On luck, at least so far, remained beautiful square under the Linden trees. It is best to arrive here in the flowering of these trees. The smell You will soothe and rozanieli ... Really worth a look here, even for a moment of relaxation. The more that the OASIS may soon disappear: the tenants of buildings located at ul. Pod Kasztanami received a letter from the city saying that they have to move out. With the largest home disappeared already services with the famous barbershop, where you can admire paintings Ewald Gawlik. Residents don't know where such a decision, but around loudly from the rumors that there arise hotel or spa. However, I hope that there will be healthy minds that this gem defend!

  • A little bit hesitated I decided to go to Giszowiec after I visited Nikiszowiec. Actually I think you should go here as well. By bus it is a short distance and it is interesting to see the differences...  more »
