Wang Church, Karpacz

(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Visit Wang Church to see a medieval Norwegian wooden church built without nails and held together by wooden joints. A Prussian king bought this 12th-century stave church from a village in Norway. The building was taken to pieces, shipped in boxes, and reconstructed in southern Poland in 1844. Check out the Norwegian architectural details carved in wood, such as lions, winged dragons, and runes. Look for a runic inscription on the doorway of the church, probably identifying artist Eindridi--nicknamed dexterous or handy--responsible for the decorations. The pathway near the church is lined with many stalls selling tourist gifts, food and hot drinks, beer, and vodka. • The temple has enchanted us your architectural details, the climate in the middle of the Church and its history. We especially recommend the route to the Church from the intersection of giant mountains (Krkonose) and mountain guides-it leads through the forest.

  • Perhaps one of the most interesting sights of Karpacz. the wooden church (stave) was brought disassembled from Vanga in Norway (hence its name) almost 200 years ago. definitely worth a visit!

  • Stylish church which is definitely 'must see' during your visit in Karpacz. Norwegian descent of this structure makes it outstanding comparing to the other wooden churches in Poland.
  • Nice church. Have to buy ticket to get inside, absolutely no order to the lineups to get inside, people shoving their way in front of you, random groups suddenly allowed ahead of everyone in line, ticket vendor sells more group tickets than there are people allowed inside the church. It is beautiful, but don't waste your time going inside. Look at inside on google images.
  • Very nice and unique church! An excellent starting point for hiking trip towards Snežka mountain.
  • Nice and unique church. Worth seeing.
