  • We have been there with our kids. This old church is very impressive. In the neighborhood you can find a vegetable market, a lot of little wooden shops selling souvenirs, restaurants to eat cheaper th...  more »
  • It was built in the 13th century. And then rebuilt. 400 years was not Catholic and Protestant. Externally-nothing stands out. Situated next to the Canal. It is believed that this is one of the oldest sacred buildings of the city. Restored 1945 year after war.

  • The Church of St. Catherine's is the oldest parish church in the old town of Gdansk. It was built between 1227-1239, its founders were the Dukes of Gdańsk Pomerania, expanded was in the fourteenth century from 1555-1945 belonged to Protestants. Its Patron Saint is Saint. Catherine of Alexandria in Egypt. Measuring 76 m church tower is topped by a Baroque helmet by Jacob van den Block. In the temple are images of Anton Möller and Isaac van den block, as well as Baroque epitaphs and the tombstone of the astronomer Johannes Hevelius from 1659. A special monument is located there, our Lady of the Bołszowieckiej with Bołszowiec in the church tower is a tower clocks Museum, branch of the historical Museum of the city of Gdańsk. In 2011 the year you have installed here the world's first clock pulsar. May 22, 2006 year, there has been another major fire of the Church, which resulted in the collapsed roof, which relied on the ceiling of the Church, so it took inside the temple. At risk of collapse church tower were rescued. Rescued most of the historic items-firefighters and policemen carried them from the flooded Church to the Town Hall square and the National Museum. Survived (albeit corrupted) carillon. After the fire the roof of the Church was rebuilt, and burned wood helmet-listed.

  • We feel happiness once we stepped into the door of church although it's broken and rudimentary。The simpler the church is,the more harmony the heart is。
  • Church was good. The clock tower was closed at my time of visit though
  • The place burned a while ago and is all reconstructed. I recommend to go on the top of the tower for the clock museum and beautiful panoramic view of Gdansk (no lift so be careful with kids and old people )
  • Gives some identity to a barely reconstructed Altstadt (as opposed to the partially reconstructed Rechtsstadt)
  • Amazing viewing of all the town on the clock tower
