Mariacka Street (ulica Mariacka), Gdansk

Categories: Historic Walking Areas, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Known for the booths selling amber jewelry that line the street, Mariacka Street (ulica Mariacka) is also home to cultural curosities, such as a sculpture of a tightrope walker balancing high above shoppers' heads. The narrow, cobbled road with walk-up townhouses recalls the city's golden age. The Krzywy Domek building represents an architectural oddity, with warped walls that make it appear as if it is a mirage materializing on the horizon. Take your time exploring this narrow pedestrian street. • Stunningly beautiful pedestrianised street, quaint houses and shops best seen in darkness. Ideal for lovers to stroll hand in hand. We ate here, shopped here and just slowly wandered along.
  • Very cosy Street with quiet atmosphere in relation to the more crowded long street. Part sellers, but not troublesome ongoing. Very cozy to go from the river and up to the Maria Church via Mariacka's lofty.

  • Running adjacent to main thoroughfare this small street has lovely Amber shops and workshops. Genuine items at very good prices. Definitely worth a treat here as a reminder of trip to Gdansk.
