  • For several hundred years before the Castle, very well preserved. Around the forest, peace and silence. Cheap tickets-a few pounds, and on Mondays free entry. The lookout tower views. The castle is the ability to do barbecue, campfire or commemorative events. Especially I recommend to lovers of the middle ages and for families with children

  • Poor
  • P ierwotny, the wooden castle was built in the 13th century by Knight from Griffin. Built on a hill in the black forest-near the mouth of the river Skawa. Today it lies between the villages of Babice, Zagórze and Wygiełzów, Lesser Poland Voivodeship.    In 1243 he purchased the Castle, Bishop of Kraków Jan Prandota and from that time until the 18th century, and more specifically to the 1789 year was owned by the bishopric. In the beginning of the 14th century the Castle belonged to the Bishop of Kraków Jan Muskaty, who was opposed to the coronation of Władysław as King of Polish.     Bishop Wojciech Jastrzębiec followed by Zbigniew Oleśnicki contributed to the expansion of the Castle and it was in the 15th century. To standing, round, a 13th-century tower with a height of up to 28 feet and built of limestone boulders and existing building are Western and Northern wings placed within representational rooms, a chapel and utility rooms. Was formed in this way, the internal courtyard with arcades on two levels. Entry to the Castle led by a drawbridge over a deep moat and gate had two entrances, separate and separate for horse carts. The whole was surrounded by a defensive wall.     In this period the castle was the prison of Bishop and later/year 1720/are there a sort of home poprawczego. In Latin the Castle lipowiecki called "domus correctionis". In the dungeons of powerful towers were dozens of small target, which dumped prisoners, often condemned to starvation. To be "resident" Lipowca enough for example. insist on the reform of the Church or pray to ask-"o priests, coby people were true". Have stayed out there among others Francis Stankar-Professor of hebraistyki at the Jagiellonian University, trapped in the year 1550, but he managed to escape and Jan Koźminczyk master of Liberal Arts Court preacher Sigismund Augustus, but he released from prison no longer returned.     When you swedzkiego "flood" conquered the castle for about two years the seat of the Swedish General Wirtza. After the departure of the Swedes, devastated the Castle lost its importance and began to fall into disrepair. In 1780 he building took over the Treasury. While leased it later different counts, but not contributed to its reconstruction. For a time the Castle served as a shelter, konfederatom barskim and in 1863 he lived in the castle the dictator of the uprising, General Marian Langiewicz. Ultimately abandoned fell into disrepair to the 1950s when it was addressed to his securing from further destruction.     Currently visiting the castle we can see the prison cells and correctional, a small museum showing the history of the Castle and enter the Castle bastion to watch gorgeous surroundings
