One of Europe's most culturally diverse cities, Stockholm extends over 14 islands, united by a series of tunnels and bridges.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Monteliusvagen and Medieval Museum. Bring the kids along to Skansen and Royal Palace. Norrköping is a city in the province of Östergötland in eastern Sweden and the seat of Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kolmården Zoo and Gamla Linkoping Open-Air Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Norrkoping: Bergs slussar (in Vreta Kloster), The Swedish Air Force Museum (in Linkoping) and S:ta Birgittas kloster Pax Mariae (in Vadstena). A conglomeration of over a hundred different nationalities, cosmopolitan Malmo sits on the southern tip of Sweden as part of the most densely populated area in Scandinavia.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Ales Stenar and Lunds domkyrka. Change things up with a short trip to Ystads Teater AB in Ystad (about 1h 05 min away). Located on the largest island in the Baltic Sea, the historical port town of Visby features one of the best-preserved medieval city walls in northern Europe.

Sweden's northernmost city, Kiruna remains best known for its proximity to the world's first hotel-museum built entirely of snow and ice.

Traveling by flight from Visby to Kiruna takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry, bus, and train; or do a combination of ferry and bus. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Visby in July: high temperatures in Kiruna hover around 20°C and lows are around 11°C.
