A global center of finance and transportation, Frankfurt is perhaps best known for its futuristic cityscape.
Head to Main-Taunus Zentrum and Kleinmarkthalle Frankfurtfor plenty of shopping. Get out of town with these interesting Frankfurt side-trips: Mannheimer Wasserturm (in Mannheim) and Heidelberg (Heidelberg Castle (Schloss Heidelberg), Philosophers' Way (Philosophenweg), & more). Next up on the itinerary: explore the world behind art at Städel, shop like a local with Shopping Center MyZeil, get the lay of the land with Walking tours, and admire the landmark architecture of Römer.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Frankfurt is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Traveling from Amsterdam in August, expect nights in Frankfurt to be about the same, around 17°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 30°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Baden-Baden.

Scenically located at the edge of the Black Forest, Baden-Baden offers scenery, culture, and relaxation in addition to a vibrant nightlife and dining scene, specializing in traditional German dishes.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Tue): find something for the whole family at Europa-Park. On the next day, look for gifts at Haus der 1000 Uhren, then take in the dramatic scenery at Triberger Waterfall, then stroll through Lichtentaler Allee, and finally try to win big at Casino Baden-Baden.

You can take a train from Frankfurt to Baden-Baden in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In August, daily temperatures in Baden-Baden can reach 29°C, while at night they dip to 16°C. On the 17th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Strasbourg.

Strasbourg, France

Strasbourg is famous for its beautiful historical center, the Grande Île, which was the first city center classified entirely as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Do your shopping at Marche Couvert de Nancy and Marché couvert de Colmar. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Strasbourg: Nancy (Parc de la Pepiniere & Place Stanislas), Little Venice (in Colmar) and Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg (in Orschwiller). And it doesn't end there: wander the streets of La Petite France, admire the striking features of Gare de Strasbourg-Cronenbourg, take an in-depth tour of Musée alsacien, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathédrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg.

Situated where the Swiss, German, and French borders meet, Basel is considered the hub of Dreilandereck, this "three countries corner." Its location makes Basel a center of culture and history, brimming with important theaters and museums.
On the 26th (Sat), stroll through Zoo Basel, make a trip to Tinguely-Brunnen, then steep yourself in history at Basel Minster, then look for gifts at Stadtmarkt, and finally take a stroll through Altstadt-Spaziergange durch Basel.

Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the heart of the Jungfrau region, Interlaken became popular for its proximity to the mountains and lakes of the Bernese Oberland region.
Get in touch with nature at Parasailing & Paragliding and Trümmelbachfälle. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Interlaken: UNESCO-Altstadt von Bern (in Bern), Mount Titlis (in Engelberg) and Lauterbrunnen Valley Waterfalls (in Lauterbrunnen).
