The capital of Sicily, Palermo was founded by the Phoenicians under the name of Ziz.
Step off the beaten path and head to Tempio di Segesta and Duomo di Monreale. Duomo di Cefalu and Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Palermo: Cefalu (Cefalu Coast & La Rocca). The adventure continues: stroll the grounds of Catacombe dei Cappuccini, take in the spiritual surroundings of Chiesa del Gesù, admire the natural beauty at Palazzo dei Normanni e Cappella Palatina, and savor the flavors at Mercato Ballaro.

The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
Appreciate the collections at Palazzo Te and Castelvecchio Museum. Get some cultural insight at Borghetto sul Mincio and Basilica di Sant’Antonio - Basilica del Santo. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Verona: Scrovegni Chapel (in Padua) and Mantua (Rotonda di San Lorenzo & Basilica di Sant'Andrea di Mantova).
