Zermatt, Switzerland

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
Visiting Matterhorn Ski Paradise and Zipline will get you outdoors. Shop till you drop at Laderach and Trummer GmbH, Holzschnitzerei woodcarving. Change things up with these side-trips from Zermatt: Murren (Blumental Panorama Trail & Schilthorn - Piz Gloria). There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at The Matterhorn, look for gifts at Metzgerei Bayard, and pause for some serene contemplation at Intercontinental Church Society.

Traveling by train from Milan to Zermatt takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sun) to allow time to travel to Paris.

Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Wed): stop by Officine Creative Roma. You can fly from Paris to Rome in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Paris in May, things will get a bit warmer in Rome: highs are around 28°C and lows about 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Milan.
