Crisologo Museum, Vigan

3.8
#1 of 9 in Museums in Ilocos Region
Crisologo Museum allows visitors to inspect a wealth of historical artifacts in the preserved house of this prominent Filipino political dynasty. The home of Floro Crisologo and his family was preserved after he was assassinated while taking part in communion at Vigan Cathedral in 1970, with the lone gunman making his escape in the chaos and panic that followed. Exploring the two-story home, you can observe a wealth of antique furnishings and artifacts, including the desk Floro worked at while he was a congressman, and the central exhibition pertaining to the assassination itself, which incorporates some grisly photographs and even his bloodstained trousers. • Amazing experience! Their caretaker is one of the best person you can talk to about history of this place as well as the person behind this museum. Although no entrance fee was needed, they will ask you for donation but not forcing you on it. But trust me, every donation you will give to this place is worth every penny since the caretaker will take care of every information you need on the museum.
  • This museum contains the old memorabilias of the Crisologos. The house and all its furniture are well preserved. The old-house turned museum has 2 floors. Free entrance fee but you can donate if you want to help preserve the museum. Staffs are nice. The flooring on the second floor is worn out already. Be careful with your steps.
  • im one of the great great grandauther of crisologo :)
  • This reminds me of some of my grandparents furnitures and appliances like the old tv set, telephones, and even the turntable. Plus a walk down memory lane of the martial law era and the bad bloods among clans in the name of politics. Also you can be redirected to the biographies of Bingbong Crisologo and Chavit's.
  • No entrance fee, but there is a compulsory donation (I think, it is used to help preserve the house). 🙂Its good to know more about our history. The second floor was under maintainance when we got here.

Where to stay in Vigan

With the main places to see in Vigan located on Crisologo Street, you'll find the primary accommodations in town close by. The pedestrianized street houses few accommodations itself, but the connecting roads offer some luxury and mid-range hotels set in atmospheric colonial-era buildings. The further you get from the cobbles of Crisologo, the more modern the accommodations, with newly built hotels in both the north and south of town, and some particularly budget-friendly options located along Liberation Boulevard as it crosses the river to the east.
