Bantay Bell Tower, Vigan
Categories: Observation Decks, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Adjacent to Bantay Church, Bantay Bell Tower served as a watchtower for centuries, protecting against pirates and robbers since 1591. The Neo-Gothic tower stands out with its vibrant red brick color and use of clay. Although the steep stairs will likely leave you breathless, you'll find a piece of history at the top, in the form of the old bells locals used to ring to alarm the village in case of emergency. Surely, the vista of the deep blue South China Sea, mountains, green valleys, and the small village of bundled white houses will make all your aches seem worth it. I love the view from the top. It's just amazing because you can almost see the whole Vigan and Bantay.

The tower is a historic treasure. For those who like historic sites and places this bell tower should not be missed. At over 4 centuries old, you can still climb to the top and see an amazing view for miles around. Amazing how this structure was put together and original structure is still strong!
I miss this place.
