  • We visited the place and a tourguide was there (he actually was the kampanero / bell ringer) to bring us to the bell tower. He made the experience in visiting the Church worthwhile.  more »

  • An old church rich in history and culture. It withstand decades and witness to the rich history of this laidback town. The facade of the church is astonishing together with the museum located nearby. It also showcases a century old well and what it claims to be the biggest bell of all catholic churches.
  • An old church built during the Spanish colonialism of Panay island. Known for its big bell installed on the church apec. Nice place to worship with great singers of the orchestra, church is very near the Panay Public plaza and public market. Very accessible through the national highway.
  • Sta. Monica Parish Church in Panay, Capiz was declared as National Historical Landmark and National Cultural Treasure by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the National Museum, respectively. The same recognition were given to Sta. Barbara Church & Convent and San Joaquin Church in Iloilo. From the Roxas City Ceres terminal, I commuted through a multicab leading to Provincial Capitol route at P8.00 fare and dropped off at the City Square Store, just a little distance from there is a tricycle terminal where I rode going to Panay Church. From the drop off point, I saw the beautiful and restored Church. This is my second time to visit the Church, the first one was after the typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) where I saw then the damage brought by that calamity and was made the Church temporary closed. Now, I already enter and was amazed inside it. I saw the antique "retablo" or main altar and another retablos niched with antique images of Saints. I felt that it's like a Church museum because everything is old. I met also the tourism officer who accompanied me to the belfry where the largest bell in Southeast Asia is hanging. He's giving orientation and I admired him of his kind gesture. Thanks to you.
  • A beautiful, historic structure that reminds us of the rich heritage of the Province of Capiz.
  • Spanish colonialism...biggest bell of Catholic church
