Kawasan Falls, Moalboal

4.0
#1 of 81 in Parks in Cebu Island
Stand on a bamboo raft underneath a spectacular three-tiered waterfall by a turquoise forest lake at Kawasan Falls, a popular tourist area in Barangay Matutinao. You can take a canyoning tour and trek along the Kawasan River to see some picturesque villages in the jungle, while exploring the upper tiers of the waterfall. Take a dip in a hidden azure lagoon, or just sit back and enjoy tranquility provided by lush greenery. To truly find peace and quiet, get away from the lowest tier of the waterfall, which is packed with thatched huts, food stalls, and raft rentals. • We had not really planned this trip, but the next day of our late arrival (after 40 hours of trip!) diving to recover u little our fatigue, we decided to have our afternoon when our Tuk Tuk driver (that we) took change in city) proposed to us! Not sure it is worth the 1 H 30 x 2 Tuk Tuk + 1 hour x 2 market that is!!... It is invaded by the groups do "Canyoning"!!... It seems quite excessive and unnecessary to compel people to wear helmet, combi, lifejacket to swim at the foot of the waterfall...! So, not easy to make beautiful pictures to avoid crowd of vests and orange helmets...

  • Started with the 3-4 hours canyoneering, which was awesome and reasonably priced. The Kawasan Falls was of course the last stop of the journey and we were supposed to rest there for a while. The color...  more »
  • We die the canyoneering trip down to kawasan falls. As we were starting it was kinda crowded, but because we were a small group of 5 people, we could slip in front of the large groups who needed to wa...  more »

  • The falls are really nice, the water refreshing. Entrance is very reasonable, but there are hidden Costs. The first, is 50 peso for life vest if you want to swim under the falls, which is doable but not mentioned. Still safety is paramount. But 500 peso if you want to use a table. And dont ask for a receipt, you wont get one. This is ridiculous, but if you want a little comfort, you have no choice. If I had to it over, I'd go during the week. Weekend are very crowded, but most of the family works so went Sunday. It is about a kilometer give or take if your lucky to park by the church. So prepare for a little walk. Beside the 500 peso hijack fees for tables, I'd go back. So I'll look to take the family somewhere else in the Philippines.
  • One of the best local tours we took. If you're a group of 6 and up, rent a van from Cebu City. The van cost about 5k for a whole day for a back and forth journey. Local guides are so helpful and even know how to take your photos and videos. The jumps are enjoyable but scary and is not for the faint of heart.
  • Beautiful coloured water, great for a swim, nice and refreshing. We went early to miss the crowds. Wasn't many people there at 7am when we were there. Keep walking up the stairs and there is lots more to see and more swimming up the top but the first one is the most amazing.
  • We were afraid this would just be your typical tourist trap. But the views are stunning and the jumps are a blast. Come well rested because you will have a full day of exploring! Listen to your guide and you'll be safe.
  • The place is a must-see in the Philippines but don’t just stop at the one famous falls. Other falls located a bit further into are even more nice to see and have a swim in ! If you feel adventurous, don’t hesitate to do the canyoneering tour with a guide. You will go through caves and jump several cliffs !
