Roxas Boulevard, Manila

1.0
#24 of 45 in Sightseeing in Manila
Landmark Tourist Spot
The picturesque, palm-lined waterfront boulevard of Roxas Boulevard offers ocean sunset views, museums, and imposing governmental architecture. A staple of the country's tourism, the 7.6 km (4.7 mi) boulevard was designed by American architect and city planner Daniel Burnham, and is now famed for its restaurants, yacht club, and parks. Take a stroll along the length of the strip and admire the sights, or consider a romantic ride down the road by horse-drawn carriage. Look out for the Cultural Center of the Philippines, which incorporates a folk arts theater, an amusement park, and the Manila Film Center. • The walk along the boulevard is great on sunset but you have to walk around the US embassy for a lonf stretch. Guards will stop you from taking photos and you have to walk very close to the main road  more »
  • We use this broad avenue that links the historic town with Pasay for moving by car to Rizal Park, some stretches of the same (in the area of Pasay) has greatest attraction, however when approaching the city of Manila turns into a coastal promenade with Palm trees and parallel to it there is a pedestrian Boardwalk way which not toured, so I reserve comment on the safety of tourists walking. Being a major boulevard usually congested traffic flow and cause discomfort for the slowness. The "Jeepney" (the colorful Jeep used as public transport) are an additional attraction. Enjoy Manila. LIFE... is a trip!

  • Noce views of the sea especially around sun set but nothing to do there as they took all the restaurants away on the seaside part  more »

Where to stay in Manila

Manila has the full spectrum of hospitality options, from highly affordable hostels you can book on the spot to luxury four- and five-star resorts. Opt to stay in mid-range and upscale hotels clustered around the central business district, or score sea views at the resorts facing Manila Bay. If you choose to go for the budget-friendlier hostel, note that many have large dorm rooms with many bunk beds, catering primarily to job-seekers, while others are designed for young backpackers looking to make new friends.
