Rizal Shrine, Manila

(3.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Inside the fortifications of Fort Santiago, see Rizal Shrine, the site of the incarceration and death of Philippine national hero José Rizal, and today a museum offering guided tours. Wax dolls, memorabilia, artifacts, books, manuscripts, and other personal belongings tell the life story of José Rizal, a doctor and the leader of the national movement, who was executed by the Spanish colonial government. The most memorable exhibits include a copy of his last song, "Mi Ultimo Adios," and the first draft of the novel "Noli Me Tangere." After the tour, take a walk through the park, which features fountains and plenty of lush vegetation. See Rizal Shrine and all Manila has to offer by arranging your trip with our Manila itinerary maker.

  • Learning the national heroes life and writings makes this place interesting. This place ahowcasing the memorabilia of Jose RiAls life.
  • I gave it 5 stars because I think this little Museum deserves a visit to learn about the life and death of the works the most famous national hero of the Philippines. In 1896 he was killed by the Spanish colonizers because he was accused of conspiracy for founding the movement of young League of the Philippines ", that freedom of thought and autonomy. At 120 years after his death in these days there are celebrations to commemorate him. The most symbolic place related to José Rizal, located in Intramuros in "Rizal Shrine", where I visited her last prison before shooting. Filipinos are here as a pilgrimage.
