Quiapo Church, Manila

(3.6/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Rebuilt after destruction by fire in 1933, Quiapo Church presents a Roman Catholic Latin-rite basilica built in Baroque style with twisted columns. The church’s dome and facade retained their classic design after reconstruction. Upon entering the church, note the prominent white ceiling. During your visit, see the famed Black Nazarene, a life-sized image of Christ carved from ebony and brought to Quiapo in 1767. Supposedly miraculous, it comes out of its shrine for up-close public viewing three times per year: New Year's Day, January 9, and Good Friday. Using our custom trip planner, Manila attractions like Quiapo Church can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Once a week, I go to Quiapo church just for a visit to my favorite statues. I pray to the Black Nazarene and Sto Sepulcro. Every time I go there, my feeling is somewhat relieved of all the stress and ...  more »
  • There is a famous church in the area is the most especially worshippers often surprisingly. So on the day of the Festival will be held in January, brush out of crowded. Please around the open-air visits fold surrounding around the Church. Interesting things can be found. Quinta market and within walking distance, but fits shops inside the big building in the development, dramatically, is reminiscent of the old days gone a little disappointing.

  • Sunday afternoon mass was not crowded. Location is nearby the market and walking distance to LRT 1 (Carriedo Station) for those who don't know much on riding jeepney.
  • A place to go for tourists in Manila. But, tourists be warned of crowds and pickpockets among the crowds; there's always a huge crowd on Fridays and bigger crowds on first Fridays. (owner' brother commenting here)
  • One of the historical church in the Philippines you should visit. I've always been here everytime i feel down, stress and hopeless. And this church gives me strength and gives me back my hope. Every time I have a relatives coming from Mindanao, this is the place I'll let them to visit.
  • I always pass through here when I'm on my way to school. It's a love-hate feeling. I love that I can almost find everything I need to buy here at a reasonable price and yet I dislike the traffic and crowd especially during Fridays, goodness... don't go here on Fidays and always look alert and smart because of thieves. Good thing the pnp are more visible there nowadays. The Church is extremely gorgeous though... Pergamum
