It is the residence and office of the Governor General during the Spanish regime. It was only in the 1850 when the palacio was given a new facade in a Neo-classical design. It houses now the governmen...  more »

The Original "The Governor's Palace" is a reminder... There is in history. The explanatory Panel of the site makes reference to the Palace of the Governors has been destroyed by earthquakes in the years 1599 and 1863, being reconstructed in these occasions, 1771 and during World War II he ran the same fate. So the current building was built in 1976 for public offices. Personally I was disappointed, perhaps because it was hoping to find a colonial gem with palatial grandeur; otherwise I've seen is a modern building which is intended to you "fit" a neoclassical home, inviting bureaucratic formalities. Enjoys intramural. LIFE... is a trip!

This building will catch your attention immediately. Its repetitive pattern and the old school style stands out among the other buildings. Suffice to say, this is one of the landmark of intramuros.  more »

Center of Spanish government during Spanish colonial era. It was the malacañang in that era. And today it is the head office of comelec.

A number of government offices are currently housed in Palacio del Gobernador. For those interested in registering as a voter or running for public office, the Commission on Elections has an office here. Those paying their housing loans can transact with PAGIBIG, and the ones who need an ATM machine will find several inside Landbank Intramuros. The building is lighted at night, much like the nearby Manila Cathedral. Parking space is easier to find between the hours of 6 in the evening to 7 in the morning, though, so you might want to consider commuting. There is a jeepney stop just across Soriano Avenue, in front of the Intramuros Fire Station.
