Greenbelt Chapel, Makati

4.6
Greenbelt Chapel and its lush grounds, set within a busy business district and shopping complex, stands as a quiet retreat accessible by a narrow pathway through dense vegetation. You'll immediately notice the Catholic chapel's unorthodox design, as it sports a domed ceiling that curves all the way to the ground in places. Head inside to admire numerous glass sculptures, a series of works by sculptor Ramon Orlina. Be sure to check the chapel's website for information regarding the regular services and events. • Right in the middle of Greenbelt park there is this little chapel, which in fact is a real Church. An open structure stifled by malls and bars that surround. I had the good fortune yesterday afternoon to attend the Holy Mass. The Church was packed up to capacity, but being in fact an open structure, there were people who followed the religious celebration in the middle of the Park, thanks to the many screens. Touching the mass officiated in English with some of the songs in tagalog. It is nice to attend a mass in a country like the Philippines where religious sentiment is so strong because everyone follows the ritual in religious silence. To follow there was a rosary and also why the Church was so crowded. Architecturally the Church is not pretty but is worth a trip up to Makati. But anyone who goes into this residential district of Manila to visit the Ayala Museum, which is very close to the Church, worth stepping here too.

  • It’s unique and well organized chapel in the heart of Greenbelt. This chapel is hiding behind the tall trees and buildings of Greenbelt. Don’t forget to bring your hand held fan or abanico if you are ...  more »

  • Go to mass, pray with a large congregation and watch as koi and other fish swim in the pond around you. I saw a turtle :) Despite being a largely outdoor venue, large industrial fans provide a good aircon'd environment so you won't overheat. Plenty of plastic stools to sit on if the pews fill up.
  • Accessible within Greenbelt 5, this Chapel features an open-air and very sleek architecture. It offer weekly Masses specially during Sundays. Chairs are limited you can ocuppy the spaces surrounding the chapel. It has a good landscape feature too.
  • I love the pastors' praiseworthy sermon worth listening to (no flakes, but the real deal in understanding our lives in relation with the Lord.
  • I remember two churches whenever Im here . Holy sacrifice in U.P Diliman because of #architecture and #EDSAShrine because it's location within mall areas.
  • Masses are in Tagalog and English. Stools are available outside the church if it's already full. Even near the mall wall, they have some. Others also sit by the fountain. We usually learn a lot from the homilies here specifically. Keep your eyes and ears peeled when they announce before Holy Communion that their "extraordinary ministers" will accommodate people outside. It always gets us thinking. So can they also be referred to as extravagant, splendiferous, or magnificent? :)
