  • From Leganes town, I hired a tricycle heading to Sta. Barbara Church because a shortcut road there had been done already. However, no jeep/bus route from Leganes to Sta. Barbara yet, except for a few tricycle for hire at P150 only. When I arrived at Sta. Barbara Church I slowly entered the entrance door of the Convent. First, I saw the beautiful inner patio and the Spanish colonial architecture of the Convent that was made up of bricks, hard wood and capiz shells ensemble on its windows. While roaming around, I saw the grade school, a grotto, grave yard and plant nursery/garden. It's amazing. Then, a good Church caretaker pointed me to enter the Church that in my mind is closed. I was wowed inside the Church, it's clean and well preserved. I saw the retablo or main altar, the Holy Family, St. John the Baptist, Crucified Christ, Holy Child Jesus and Sta. Barbara with Her Relic. It was really a fulfilling spiritual experience I got here. Sta. Barbara Church and Convent was declared as National Historical Landmark and National Cultural Treasure by the National Historical Commission and the National Museum of the Philippines.
  • Restored and preserved , Santa Barbara Church is where General Martin Delgado raised the first of cry revolution against Spain in Iloilo. The event is now popularly known as Cry of Santa Barbara. It was declared as a Philippine National Treasure in 2015 because of the importance of the church and convent in the history of the Philippines.
  • Nice old church
  • If you want to visit Iloilo dont forget to drop by at Sta Barbara Church. Where the Ilonggo hero Gen Martin T Delgado used this area a meeting place to plan for war. A church that was built during spanish era and was declared as a national shrine by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines
  • Park in front, including around the atmosphere was the best. Was it seen from the front, Cathedral it is little wonder that had become a building a massive inside. I think it stopped so close to the new airport, it wouldn't hurt.
