Enchanted River, Hinatuan
(4.3/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Veiled by the Philippine jungle, Enchanted River springs seemingly out of nowhere and runs a short distance before it flows into the Philippine Sea. A dirt road and uneven pathways with natural steep steps lead you to the river, where you can swim in salt water only 15 m (50 ft) deep, and watch the fish feeding at noon. You can even rent a small boat and sail out to the ocean. The mysterious river has inspired legends of fairies, ancestral spirits, and uncatchable fish that dwell in its jade and sapphire waters. Ongoing explorations of the underground system of caves, which started in 1999, have not yet determined the origin of the river. • Head there early in the morning to avoid crowds, get a snorkel and have a dip in the crystal water. We did the island hopping and enjoyed it a lot!

  • The water was clear blue and there was like an underground tunnel down the river. It was a 45 mins drive to the area and the road was not yet very developed during the time that we went there and it was very crowded it would have been nice if this little place was not too congested.
  • Must watch is the fish feeding at noon .When i come here, I always ride an UBER. Use promo code LES4MORE & enjoy 200pesos off on your first ride. 1 redemption per device per number allowed.
  • The actual river was beautiful, and a fantastic snorkelling experience. The water is clear, and there are huge fish just out of reach looking at you. However, the boat trip out to the new resorts wasn't very exciting, and right now most of the resorts are still construction sites, and not really finished. If all you come here for is the swimming, I think you'll be very pleased. Just make sure you go during the opening hours.
  • Yes, the attraction is indeed enchanting. The clear bluish water on a an enclave of 85+ ft deep is really a nice spot to dive and snorkel. However, the natural wonder of the place is seemingly offset by the utter lack of hospitality and attentiveness of the crews assigned at the reception. I'm not sure if they have not been properly oriented in receiving visitors or it is a cultural thing. At some point, one of the crews, who seemed to be the most "senior" among others almost shooed us away because we arrived too early (before 7AM) and they apparently are not yet giving out entrance tickets. It was despite the fact that there's a notice on the wall saying the establishment opens at 6AM and we arrive a little before 7. This would have been negligible for us if not for the fact that we traveled straight from Camiguin to Hinatuan at the middle of the night only to be shooed away in the morning! Haha, what a disenchanting experience in enchanted river.
  • The place is really lovely. You should not miss the fish feeding. The fun will start here starting at the boat ride which will take you around the surrounding islands with adventures like caving, fishing, and a small island in the middle of the sea with a full view of the pacific ocean.
