Matinloc Island, El Nido
Categories: Islands, Nature & Parks
Bask in crystal clear waters and swim to secret white sand beaches at Matinloc Island. Renowned as an area of extraordinary natural splendour, you’ll feel like you’ve found your very own piece of paradise here. Climb to the highest point on the island for incredible views of the surrounding archipelago. If you’re feeling adventurous, make your way to the island's "secret beach." Inaccessible by boat, visitors must swim underwater through a gap in the rock wall to reach the small beach, which is supposedly the very same spot that inspired Alex Garland's famous novel, "The Beach." Plan to see Matinloc Island and other attractions that appeal to you using our El Nido trip generator.

place is not really worth it for 150 pesos. smells like people use this for a toilet stop. waters around it is pretty clear.
Abandoned mansion in an island with a shrine. View was spectacular. One of a kind. Climbing up a hill you could see the island view which was really beautiful.
One of the many stops on the island hopping trip. An old shrine with a statue of Mary, and a climb up some steps to get a nice view of the surrounding islands.
It is only because I feel I owe it to all of El Nido to affirm what has been written by the appreciative writer before me, that I dare write anything now . Like him I think the treasures of the place are so beautiful and unique. I never tire of telling my friends that being in El Nido is being right there on the first day of creation. But unlike the writer of the review, I brought my Nikon with me. Like him, though, I did not get too many pictures. I just sat there soaking in the loveliness of each of the many places we visited, swam in, rested and ate. I did not want to miss out on the present moment in my desire to preserve it for the future. After all, the moment I faced the expanse of the bay and the surrounding islands, I knew I was going to have to come back and renew my excitement and exhilaration over the wonder that is El Nido. And, the second time around, there will be time enough to record the memories for my family and friends in Facebook. For the time being I just wanted to feast my heart and my senses. If I remember right, it was low tide when we arrived at the site of Mantinloc. We landed at a little beach and half walked and half floated towards the entrance hole. I bumped my head on the rock arch of the narrow entry and scraped my leg on the sentinel of a rock guarding the secret garden. Small price for the privilege of witnessing Nature's unrivaled and original display of beauty and power. Awesome...really awesome. Nowadays when I read or hear this word "awesome" used so flippantly to describe trivial things, I shake my head and say to myself, this guy obviously has not been touched by El Nido.....yet. I have no other words for the Secret Garden. I will wait till I have honed my skills as a photographer and fulfill my promise to myself and El Nido, that I shall return.
