Big Lagoon, El Nido

4.6
#2 of 18 in Nature in El Nido
The tranquil turquoise-green waters of Big Lagoon lie tucked between magnificent limestone cliffs fringed by tropical vegetation. Showcasing a kaleidoscope of marine life, the spot provides an excellent diving and snorkeling opportunity. Cruise into it with a catamaran and hop off the boat for a pleasant swim, or kayak around to explore all the shades of blue and caves under the dramatically ridged cliffs. Set in the midst of karst formations sheltering clear waters, the lagoon is a breeding ground for numerous fish and crustaceans. Tours usually include an adventure to the island's smaller lagoon nearby and fresh seafood treats. Make Big Lagoon a part of your El Nido vacation plans using our El Nido trip planner .

  • I’m not much of a swimmer prefer to stay ashore. But, the shear beauty of the clear blue waters and the scenic view is enough to bring even the recluse to come out to enjoy the lagoon. Be prepared to ...  more »

  • You don’t have to get out and canoe for this one it’s large enough to go in on your boat, beautiful surroundings! We went in off season so it was too crowded!  more »

  • El Nido is way overrated in general, locals are rude and stare at you, taxi drivers are wild men, and the town is not genuine at all, only set up for tourists and you will get nothing but hassle while you're here.. save your $$ and go somewhere else
  • Enjoyable especially when doing the kayak.
  • One of the most photographed places in El Nido, Big Lagoon is a must visit. Avail of Tour A to visit this place.
  • El Nido is a must if you visit Philippines. El Nido is for me the best in Philippines. I don't understand why people like Boracay. I was there few times because friend of mine running surf business and I do surfing there too. Back to El Nido, I would suggest people travelling more than two persons to have own private boat incl. the meal. You must not fight for the food or the kayak (canoe) and hurry up in place you like. In our case, just two of us, we like the big lagoon so we decided to stay there longer. In big tour you can not do it! It was a family member of small Dessert hotel who arranged the boat for us for bit more pesos than the big tours . We really enjoyed and would do again. We joined those big tours, A, B and D), was not nice
  • Great lagoon with amazing rocks just rising from the water on all sides. Usually overcrowded but worth visiting. Renting a kayak is a great option if you are into taking photos.
