People's Park, Davao City

#3 of 59 in Things to do in Davao City
Meander your way along the paved paths of People's Park, underneath a giant metal dome inspired by the appearance of the city’s durian fruit. Bordered with over 1,000 species of plant from across the globe, the park attracts visitors primarily for its sculptures of indigenous peoples, created by Mindanao artist Kublai Millan. Relax in quiet serenity, following the colorful promenade across 4 ha (9.8 ac), stopping at the center to enjoy the dancing fountains surrounded by lush landscaped gardens. It's incredible that this place is here in davao. So calm, so peaceful, with fresh air, lots of trees and strolling or walking around the place just makes me feel great.  more »

Big for a provincial city park. Lots of room for children to run around and for families to have a picnic.  more »

Went here at night. A lot of joggers (rightfully as the park was once a former track oval). I have to commend the cleanliness of the entire park, you won't see any litter. Of course the NO LITTERING signs every few meters probably helped. If any, this shows the combined discipline of the citizens and diligence of maintenance staff. For a better appreciation of the place, I recommend coming here in the morning. They are open from 5AM-8AM and 1PM-10PM.

I like this place when I want some time for myself. I always go out for a walk but usually end up here. I like hanging out here because of the place itself and the variety of people I see. Mostly I would come here whenever I am feeling stressed and just want a time off.

It's very clean and is consistently being maintained by the local government. Very attractive and is filled with a multitude of scenery and places to sit and get some air. It's filled with trees amd other plants. Its usually filled with people exercising/jogging in the morning and filled with park goers later in the afternoon.

Loved it here! Free wifi(and food for park goers, but its limited until the food lasts); great for family times and picnics. If you are a nature loving person, you would definitely love it here.

Where to stay in Davao City

You won't find a shortage of accommodations in Davao City, nor a lack of choice between different styles. Close to the central People's Park, a number of hotels great and small offer arrays of facilities to match the number of stars they display outside. A number of fairly basic family-run guesthouses offer up the budget options in town, located primarily on the side streets to the north and south of this central area. Look inland and out of town for a collection of guesthouses located right in the thick of the rural landscape.
