Taoist Temple, Cebu City

3.9
Perched on the top of Cebu’s classy Beverly Hills, Taoist Temple stands as an impressive modern place of worship built by the city’s Chinese community in 1972. Entered through a replica of the Great Wall of China after 81 symbollic steps, the temple offers an insight into Chinese folk religions. Standing at an elevation of 300 m (980 ft), the temple's grounds serve as a great platform to relax with a scenic view of the city. Admire a statue of a long green dragon outside the temple garden, or stroll around the complex and simply enjoy the scenery. Volunteers will help you take part in rituals for good luck. • It's a beautiful Chinese temple in the middle of the city, its best to go around late afternoon when it's not too hot. Normally the place is not that crowded and you shouldn't be facing any challenges in reaching this place. You can spend around an hour to cover the whole place, there are some good photo 📸 location within the compound.
  • This is a large Taoist Temple serving Cebu City. It has become a tourist attraction due to its statues of dragons and pagodas. It is a very well kept Temple and features several altars for various saints. Anyone can light up and offer incense and the people there will help guide you if you want to make an offering. There is free tea for anyone who's thirsty.
  • You cannot take pictures in the temple and it is understandable. The place is peaceful and you'll feel like you are not in the Philippines due to the architecture of the temple. There is also a nice view. Besides visiting the different altars here, you could get a chance to try a traditional fortune telling and they will provide you with a guide. Restrooms are clean and there are snacks available to buy. There is a souvenir shop selling charms.
  • Cebu Taoist Temple is a famous tourist attraction in Cebu City located in Beverly Hills. The Chinese Taoism community built the temple with Chinese style architecture in in 1972. Entrance resembles The Great Wall of China. Temple is very tranquil, one can enjoy and relax in the peaceful atmosphere. One can enjoy the wonderful scenery and an overlooking view of Cebu city from here. Temple is maintained so well. Camera is not allowed inside the temple. Parking is available and it is free. The temple has a chapel and souvenir shop
  • I visited in 2006. I'm not sure what has changed since then. If you're visiting Cebu, this is certainly a nice trip side trip. You can easily spent a couple hours checking it out and it's easy to get to by taxi from just about anywhere in Cebu.
